One of the wonderful things about staying in our Gatlinburg cabins is that you never have to travel far to find a scenic hike! While there are hundreds of trails within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, you can also find plenty of excellent hiking options right around the outskirts of downtown Gatlinburg! Whether you want to take a pleasant stroll along the river or experience a breathtaking mountain top trail, you can do it all near our cabins! Here are the top 4 places to go for a scenic hike in Gatlinburg:

1. Mynatt Park

Mynatt Park in Gatlinburg Mynatt Park is considered a bit of a hidden gem in Gatlinburg, so this is the perfect place to enjoy a peaceful hike among the mountains! This beautiful park is situated just off of Asbury Lane, which can be accessed by taking the Historic Nature Trail Road from downtown Gatlinburg. You will find all kinds of excellent recreational equipment at Mynatt Park as well, including a playground area, basketball court and tennis courts. There is even a “children only” section of the stream where you can introduce your kids to fishing!

2. Gatlinburg Trail

Another one of the places to go for a scenic hike in Gatlinburg is the Gatlinburg Trail, a popular walking path that travels from the outskirts of Gatlinburg to the Sugarlands Visitor Center within Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The trail is 1.9 miles one way and is relatively flat, making it an easy hike for family members of all ages! The Gatlinburg Trail also offers stunning views of the river, as well as the opportunity to see the foundations and chimneys of several old homesites!

3. Gatlinburg SkyTrail

Gatlinburg SkyLift Park Take your hiking adventures to new heights with a trek along the Gatlinburg SkyTrail, a scenic walkway that travels along the top of the Gatlinburg SkyLift Park and connects both ends of the park’s famous SkyBridge! The trail features 3 distinct sections, including an Elevated Boardwalk with interactive signage about the engineering of the SkyBridge, the history of the Gatlinburg SkyLift, and the 2016 wildfires that swept across Crockett Mountain. The next stop is the Tulip Tower, a 70 foot tall tower accessed by two rope bridges that offers four elevated viewing platforms. Finally, the Path is a non-boardwalk portion of the trail that is cut into the natural hillside with spectacular views of the highest peaks in the Smokies!

4. River Road

If you want to take a break from walking along the action packed streets of downtown Gatlinburg, you can enjoy a lovely diversion by taking a hike along River Road! This road runs parallel to the Parkway but lacks the crowds, making it a delightful place to stroll while still being close to all of the attractions, shops and restaurants! This is also a fantastic spot to visit for couples looking for a romantic place to walk in the evening!
