The Island in Pigeon Forge is a beloved tourist attraction that opened in June 2013. The centerpiece is the Great Smoky Mountain Wheel. At over 200 feet tall, it is one of the tallest attractions in the southeast. Other notable activities here include the Alcatraz East Crime Museum. The unique exhibits teach visitors about the history of crime in the United States. Some of the highlights include an Artifacts Center, which houses belongings from notorious American criminals, such as Ted Bundy. The Island in Pigeon Forge is also known for its shopping. The variety of stores is sure to have something for everyone. If you need to rest your legs, sit down by the fountain to watch the water show. The 89 nozzles shoot water up 60 feet in the air and are choreographed to 14 pieces of music. It is even better at night, as colored lights shine on the water.
