- November 29, 2024
One of the things that people look forward to doing during the Christmas season is admiring pretty lights. You can see a lot of them on your vacation with us when you drive into the city at night. Read on to learn about some great spots. Here is a list of 3 awesome places to see Christmas lights in the Smoky Mountains:
1. On the Parkway
The Parkway is a popular road in the Smoky Mountain area with lots of great attractions. In the winter months, it is decked out in all kinds of light displays. In Pigeon Forge, see representations of the 12 Days of Christmas as well as your favorite fairytale characters. On the other hand, there are 43 life-size three-dimensional snow people throughout the city of Gatlinburg. See if you can spot all of them. There is no wrong choice when deciding where to go! You can even make plans to visit both spots, as the cities are a short distance away from one another. Walk around to see the lights or view them from the comfort of your own vehicle for one of the best free things to do during winter in the Smoky Mountains!
2. At the Gatlinburg SkyPark
Another place to see Christmas lights in the smoky mountains is the Gatlinburg SkyPark. Ride the SkyLift high above downtown Gatlinburg in order to reach it. The 700-foot bridge is adored and lights all the way across. There is also a 30-foot Christmas tree plus other decorations. All of them provide great photo opportunities, so make sure to bring a camera. The pictures may make your holiday card! Because this is an all-outdoor attraction, make sure to dress warmly when you visit the SkyPark. The bridge is at a high elevation, 1,800 feet above sea level. This makes the temperature there much colder than on the ground. Wear a heavy jacket and insulated boots to stay nice and toasty. You can also wear gloves and a hat for maximum comfort!
3. At SkyLand Ranch
SkyLand Ranch is a fun attraction in Sevierville TN. In the winter months, they host the spectacular Festival of Lights. Take a ride on the chairlift to get a good look at all the vibrant colors. Walk around to see all the stunning light displays up close. You’ll love Santa’s “Moo”ving Sleigh Ride and The Rodeo at the Ranch. There is also a light projection show on the outside of the barn. Warm up when you dance to your favorite Christmas songs. If you get hungry, grab a bite to eat at the SkyLand Café and Bakery. For your main dish, order a soup, pizza, or bowl of soup. If you want some dessert afterward, get some gourmet hot chocolate and gingerbread cookies. Before you leave, do some Christmas shopping at the attraction’s unique shops! Find great gifts for everyone on your list. You can also pick out some souvenirs for yourself too. They will always remind you of this fun winter trip!
